    Nigeria's COVID-19 Cases Surpass 30,000, Additional 15 Deaths Reported

    The number of COVID-19 infections passed 30,000 in Nigeria, as the worst pandemic in a century escalated across the nation.

    Nigeria on Wednesday night records 460 new COVID-19 cases, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control(NCDC) announced this via it official Twitter handle.

    The latest update raised the total figure of confirmed cases in the country to 30,249 while the death toll from the virus reached 684

    265 COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from isolation centers, raising the number of successfully recovered patients to 12,373

    The newly recorded COVID-19 cases were reported across 20 States and the Federal Capital Territory. Lagos reported the highest number of cases on Wednesday night with 150 infections, while Rivers confirmed 49 cases, Oyo had 43 cases and Delta reported 38 ases.

    According to the agency, others state with new cases as follows: FCT-26, Anambra-20, Kano-20, Plateau-18, Edo-14, Bayelsa-13, Enugu-13 and Osun-12. 

    Meanwhile, states with fewer cases include: Kwara-10, Borno-8, Ogun-7, Kaduna-6, Imo-4, Bauchi-3, Gombe-3, Niger-2 and Adamawa-1.

    Nigeria has tested 169,629 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

    On the 8th of July 2020, 460 new confirmed cases and 15 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
    Till date, 30249 cases have been confirmed, 12373 cases have been discharged and 684 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
