    Nigeria: 417 New COVID-19 Cases Recorded, Total Now 49,485

    The latest statistics released on Monday night by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control shows that the country recorded 417 new cases in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    NCDC also disclosed that two COVID-19 related fatalities were recorded in the country, while 337 people were discharged after recovered from the disease.

    The new cases confirmed by the health agency took the country’s tally of COVID-19 infections to 49,485

    According to the daily report released by NCDC, Lagos recorded the bulk of the new infections with 207 cases, while Kaduna, Ondo, Abia and Anambra confirmed 44, 38, 28 and 21 new cases respectively.

    20 new cases of coronavirus were found in Plateau, while Bauchi had 13, Oyo and Ebonyi reported 9 cases each, Delta and Edo had 7 cases, Enugu confirmed 6 cases, Niger reported 3 cases, Gombe had 2 cases and Ogun, FCT and Kano confirmed 1 case each.

    Nigeria has tested 352,625 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

    On the 17th of August, 417 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 49,485 cases have been confirmed, 36,834 cases have been discharged and 977 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
