The tally of confirmed novel coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Nigeria has risen to 53,477 following the confirmation of 160 new cases in the country on Friday.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known via it official Twitter handle late Friday.
In its daily updates, NCDC said the new cases were detected in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The bulk of the new cases were confirmed in Plateau state with 44 cases, followed by Lagos and Kastina with 27 and 18 new cases respectively.
Other states with new confirmed cases on Friday include: Edo-15, FCT-14, Ondo-10, Oyo-9, Kwara-6, Abia-4, Nasarawa-4, Kano-3, Ekiti-2, Kaduna-2, Kebbi-1 and Ogun-1.
The total of discharged cases in the country has also increased to 41,017 after 291 patients were discharged from isolation centres.
However, COVID-19 death toll in the country still stands at 1,011 after no death were recorded on Friday.
Nigeria has tested 394,524 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.
