Nigeria reported 288 new confirmed cases of the Coronavirus infections, eight more deaths and 355 patients recovered from the virus infections and discharged after testing negative. 

The new update brings the total number of infections in the country to 44,129, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday night.

Data from NCDC indicated that the new cases were found in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In its daily update on its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov said Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with 89 cases, followed by Kwara with 33 cases, Osun with 27 cases and FCT with 25 cases. 

Other states with new cases include: Enugu-25, Abia-20, Kaduna-17, Plateau-13, Rivers-13, Delta-10, Gombe-8, Ogun-4, Oyo-3, Katsina-1 and Bauchi-1.

Since the beginning of the outbreak in Nigeria in February, more than 287,532 samples have been tested by NCDC, out of which 44,129 were positive.

According to the NCDC, on the 3rd of August 2020, 288 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 44,129 cases have been confirmed, 20,663 cases have been discharged and 896 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
