    Nigeria Records 296 New COVID-19 Cases

    296 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known Thursday night.

    The new cases brings the tally of confirmed Coronavirus infections in country to 53,317

    On its Twitter handle, the health agency said, one death were recorded from the virus. Also announced the discharge of 445 patients from isolation centers across the country.

    For the first time, Lagos, the epicentre of the disease confirmed a very low number of cases, recording 21 more cases to have a total of 18,056 confirmed cases.

    Plateau reported 85 new cases to lead the chart, while Enugu recorded 85 new cases of coronavirus Oyo, Lagos and River had 46, 21and 20 cases respectively .

    Other states with new infections include FCT-15, Kaduna-13, Bauchi-12, Delta-11, Ekiti-11, Akwa Ibom-7, Ebonyi-6, Kwara-5, Ogun-4, Osun-4, Gombe-3 and Niger-2.

    Nigeria has so far tested 391,502 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on the 27th of August 2020, 296 new confirmed cases and 1 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 53,317 cases have been confirmed, 40,726 cases have been discharged and 1,011 deaths have been recorded 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
