According to information made available by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on its Twitter handle, the new discoveries brings the total number of people infected by the virus in Nigeria to 49,068 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
One deaths were recorded from the virus in the past 24 hours taking the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 975. While 207 patients were discharged after testing positive to the virus.
Plateau took the lead with 108 new cases, while the Kaduna had 49 cases, Lagos had 47 cases, Ogun had 18 cases, Osun confirmed 17 cases and FCT had 15 cases.
Other states with new infections are, Ondo-14, Edo-8, Oyo-6, Akwa Ibom-4, Cross River-4, Borno-3, Ekiti-2, Bauchi-1, Kano-1 and Rivers-1
Nigeria has so far tested 350,589 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.
According to NCDC, on the 16th of August, 298 new confirmed cases and death were recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 49,068 cases have been confirmed, 36,497 cases have been discharged and 975 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
