    Nigeria Reports 601 New COVID-19 Cases, 404 Confirmed in Lagos

    The number of infections in the Nigeria has been increasing gradually.  With the latest update, the tally of coronavirus infections in the country rose to 51,905 after 601 new COVID-19 infections were announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control late Sunday.

    Lagos, the country’s COVID-19 epicentre set a new record in novel coronavirus infections, reporting 404 new cases on Saturday, increasing the state’s infection figures to 17,764.

    The agency also announced that no fewer than 997 patients have died of coronavirus-related complications including one new deaths that were recorded Sunday.

    Also 882 people were discharged from various isolation centre in the country, raising the total figure of patients discharged to 38,767
    The health agency in a tweet said the new cases were reported in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Lagos, FCT, and Oyo recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Sunday, with 404, 37 and 19 cases respectively.

    Other states with new cases reported as follows: Ondo-14, Abia-13,Enugu-13, Kaduna-13, Edo-12, Kano-12, Kwara-11, Ebonyi-10, Nasarawa-7, Ogun-6, Osun-5, Delta-5, Niger-5, Plateau-4, Bayelsa-4, Katsina-3, Ekiti-2 and Imo-2.
    Nigeria has tested 374,077 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

    According to the health agency on the 22nd of August 2020, 601 new confirmed cases and 1 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 51,905 cases have been confirmed, 38,767 cases have been discharged and 997 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
