    Nigeria's COVID-19 Cases Hits 53,021, Records 221 New Cases

    Latest updates from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC shows that 221 people have newly contracted a disease defined as illness caused by a novel coronavirus COVID-19 in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Plateau reported the highest number on Wednesday with 60 coronavirus  infections as the country's tally of confirmed cases reached 53,021

    The health agency said that Nigeria had now successfully treated and discharged 40,281 COVID-19 cases following the discharge of 317 additional patients in the last 24 hours. While three more persons have died from the disease.

    Other states with new cases as follows: FCT-33, Kaduna-26, Rivers-18, Lagos-17, Enugu-9, Kwara-9, Ondo-9, Nasarawa-6, Gombe-5, Anambra-5, Delta-4, Abia-4, Imo-3, Edo-2, Ogun-2, Oyo-2, Osun-2, Bauchi-1 and Kano-1.

    Since the beginning of the outbreak in Nigeria in February, more than 388,346 samples have been tested by NCDC, out of which 53,021 were positive.

    According to the NCDC, on 26th of August 2020, 221 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
    Till date, 53,021 cases have been confirmed, 40,281 cases have been discharged and 1,010 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
