    Nigeria's COVID-19 Cases Rise to 52,800 as 252 People Test Positive

    The total confirmed COVID-19 infection cases in Nigeria reached  52,800 on Tuesday as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC announced 252 new cases of coronavirus.

    According to the statistics released by NCDC, the new cases were reported in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
    While the number of deaths rose from 1,004 to 1,007, the number of discharge cases also increased from 39,257 to 39,964

    Confirming the new cases on its verified Twitter handle, NCDC said Plateau took the lead with 50 new cases, followed by Enugu with 35,  Rivers with 27 and Lagos with 26 cases.

    Other states affected by the virus on Tuesday include: FCT-18, Kaduna-18, Ekiti-10, Kano-10, Taraba-9, Anambra-8, Edo-8, Oyo-8, Delta-7, Ogun-6, Abia-5, Bayelsa-5, Ebonyi-1 and Osun-1.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 383,130 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    According to the health agency on the 25th of August 2020, 252 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 52,800 cases have been confirmed, 39,964 cases have been discharged and 1,007 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
