    Over 46,000 Cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria; 453 New Cases Reported Overnight

    With the latest update the tally of infected people in the country rose to 46,140, as Nigeria, on Saturday night recorded 453 new cases of COVID-19 in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) revealed this via its official Twitter handle.

    NCDC also announced the discharge of 407 patients from isolation centers across the country with 6 new deaths reported.

    Data obtained from the health agency's website shows that Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory recorded the highest number of cases with 75, while Lagos, Benue, Delta and Borno reported 71, 53, 39 and 30 cases respectively.

    Other states with new infections are; Enugu-25, Plateau-24,Osun-20, Abia-19, Oyo-17, Kaduna-16, Kano-13, Ebonyi-13, Ogun-9, Kwara-7, Ondo-6, Gombe-3, Ekiti-2, Akwa Ibom-1 and Rivers-1

    Nigeria has so far tested 314,632 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    According to NCDC, on the 8th of August, 453 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 46,140 cases have been confirmed, 33,044 cases have been discharged and 942 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
