    Nigeria Confirms 162 New COVID-19 Cases

    The spread of novel Coronavirus Disease COVID-19 in Nigeria continues to slow down as the latest statistics provided by shows that the country recorded 162 new cases.

    With 162 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday, a total of 54,905 infections have now been recorded across the country.

    According to the health agency, the numbers of recoveries currently stands at 42,922 with additional 106 patients discharged across the country.
    However, three patients were confirmed to have died of COVID-19 complications, raising the country’s current fatalities to 1,054

    Data obtained via NCDC Twitter handle shows that, Lagos recorded the bulk of the new infections with 53 cases, while Gombe, Oyo and  Delta confirmed 21, 19 and 12 new cases respectively.

    Other states with new coronavirus infections are: Ondo-11, Plateau-10, Ebonyi-9, FCT-6, Kwara-6, Kaduna-5, Rivers-3, Ogun-2, Anambra-2, Imo-2 and Ekiti-1.

    Nigeria has tested 420,543 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

    According to the NCDC, on the 5th of September 2020, 162 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
    Till date, 54,905 cases have been confirmed, 42,922 cases have been discharged and 1,054 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
