    Nigeria Records 136 New COVID-19 infections, Total Now 58,198

     

    Despite the measures put in place to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, Nigeria has continued to record new cases of infections.

    The country on Saturday night recorded 136 new COVID-19 cases with 3 coronavirus related deaths in 16 states.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known via its official Twitter handle.

    NCDC also announced the discharge of 116 patients from isolation centers across the country.

    According to the breakdown by the health agency, Lagos state recorded the highest number of confirmed cases with 41 new infections taking the total number of cases in Lagos to 19,215.

    While Ogun, Rivers Abia, and Oyo recorded 27, 19, 10 and 6 cases  of the virus infections respectively.

    Other states in new cases include: Plateau-6, Bauchi-5, Ondo-5, Ekiti-4, Kaduna-4, Edo-3, Ebonyi-2, Bayelsa-1, Delta-1, Osun-1 and Yobe-1.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 502,545 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

    NCDC, on the 26 of September, reported 136 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths in Nigeria.

    Till date, 58198 cases have been confirmed, 49722 cases have been discharged and 1106 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
