    COVID-19: Nigeria Records 179 New Infections


    Nigeria has recorded 179 new novel coronavirus, COVID-19 cases in 12 states and Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday.

    With the new confirmed cases, a total of 60,834 COVID-19 infections have now been recorded across the country.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official twitter page.

    NCDC added that 137 people were discharged, while no person was confirmed to have died of COVID-19 complications.

    According to the breakdown of new cases, Lagos topped the list with 116 infections, followed by Anambra with 20 and FCT, Oyo and Rivers had 9 cases each.

    Other states with new COVID-19 infections are: Delta-3, Nasarawa-3, Edo-2, Kaduna-2, Ogun-2, Plateau-2, Ekiti-1 and Osun-1.

    NCDC disclosed that it had conducted about 564,936 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced in the country.

    According to the health agency, on the 14th of October 2020, 179 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria

    Till date, 60,834 cases have been confirmed, 52,143 cases have been discharged and 1,116 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
