According to the statistics released by NCDC, the number of deaths rose from 1,179 to 1,180 while the number of discharge also increased from 64,467 to 64,650
Confirming the new infections on its verified website, NCDC said FCT took the lead with 128 new infections, followed by Lagos with 86, Kaduna with 26 and Kastina with 20 infections.
Other states affected by the virus on Saturday include: Rivers (19), Oyo (7), Benue (5), Edo (5), Jigawa (5), Ogun (5), Bayelsa (2) and Kano (2).
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 791,539 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.
According to the health agency on the 5th of December 2020, 310 new confirmed cases and 1 death was recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 68,937 cases have been confirmed, 64,650 cases have been discharged and 1,180 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
