On Thursday night, Nigeria recorded 1,031 new COVID-19 cases
and 11 new coronavirus related deaths in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT).
The new figures released late Thursday brought the nation's
total number of infections to 87,510 and deaths to 73,713.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this
known via its official Twitter handle.
NCDC also announced the discharge of 391 patients from
isolation centers across the country.
Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in country recorded
the highest number of confirmed cases with 570 new infection taking the total
number of cases in state to 30,188.
According to the breakdown released on Thursday night by
NCDC, Lagos, FCT, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Bauchi recorded the highest number of
COVID-19 infections with 570, 117, 109, 34 and 31 cases respectively.
Other states in new cases are: Kano-28, Plateau-26, Sokoto-26,
Ogun-25, Edo-18, Rivers-16, Abia-10, Imo-7, Taraba-6, Delta-4 and Osun-4.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 948,048
tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was
announced.
According to the NCDC, on the 31st of December 2020, 1031
new confirmed cases and 11 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
Till date, 87,510 cases have been confirmed, 73,713 cases have been discharged and 1,289 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Our discharges today includes 53 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.
