    Nigeria Records 5 Deaths, 1,074 New COVID-19 Infections

    The figures of new cases of COVID-19 is accelerating dramatically in Nigeria.

    The numbers of new infections are now growing at such a rate that while it took some weeks to reach the first 1 Thousand cases, the last Thousand cases was reached in just one days.

    Nigeria has recorded 1,074 new novel coronavirus infections with 5 coronavirus related death recorded in 14 states and Federal Capital Territory in the last 24 hours.

    660 patients were discharged from isolation centers across the country.

    With the new confirmed cases, a total of 88,587 COVID-19 infections have now been recorded across the country. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official twitter page.

    Lagos reported 642 cases, over half of the new virus confirmed on Friday, followed by Kaduna with 92 cases, Rivers had 78 cases, while FCT, Gombe and Kano reported 66, 66 and 35 cases respectively.

    Other states with new cases include: Ogun-31, Katsina-22, Plateau-20, Abia-7, Niger-4, Oyo-4, Akwa Ibom-3, Delta-2 and Osun-2.

    NCDC on the 1st of January 2021, reported that 1,074 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
    Till date, 88,587 cases have been confirmed, 74,373 cases have been discharged and 1,294 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
