    COVID-19: NCDC Confirms 634 New Infections, 6 Deaths

    Nigeria has registered 634 new coronavirus cases in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said late Thursday, down from 655 infections recorded a day earlier.

    The health agency, in its updates stated that 6 more deaths from the virus were reported in the past 24 hours, down from 11 reported a day before.

    The figures come as it is also revealed that the number of people who have recovered and discharged on Thursday increased by 881.

    Its noted that discharges today include 236 community recoveries in Lagos State and 79 community recoveries in Imo State managed in line with guidelines.

    The number of active COVID-19 cases in the nation further fall on Thursday by 163. The current active cases COVID-19 stand at 21,116.

    The most affected regional state on Thursday is Lagos with 259 infections, followed by Osun with 45, Edo had 38 and Ogun with 35 infections.

    Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory confirmed 33 cases of the virus, Anambra had 26, Imo and Ondo confirmed 24 cases each, Akwa Ibom and Plateau had 20 cases each. Abia and Kaduna recorded 19 cases each and Ebonyi had 17 cases.

    Ten cases each were recorded in Borno and Rivers, Kano had nine, Delta reported eight, Kebbi reported seven, Nasarawa had four,  Oyo reported three and two cases each were found in Enugu and Ekiti.

    According to NCDC, till date, 154,476 cases have been confirmed, 131,699  cases have been discharged and 1,891 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
