With the new confirmed cases of COVID-19, Nigeria’s tally of
confirmed infections since the outbreak of the disease in the country is now 139,242,
the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via it’s official
Twitter handle.
The health agency, however, confirmed additional 6
coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, as the nation’s death toll
rose to 1,647.
NCDC also disclosed that 918 people were successfully
treated, recovered from the disease and discharged on Saturday, this brought
the total number of recoveries to 112,557 in 36 states and the Federal Capital
Territory.
NCDC added that discharges today include 498 community recoveries in Lagos State, 64 in Kano State and 54 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
According to the country’s agency responsible for the
management of disease outbreaks, the new infections were recorded in 19 states
and the Federal Capital Territory.
The latest update from the health agency revealed that Lagos
topped the list of states with new infections – recorded 535, while Anambra, Oyo
and FCT confirmed 218, 155 and 150 infections.
Other states affected by the virus on Saturday, Kano-124, Gombe-60,
Kaduna-49, Ebonyi-48, Plateau 46, Akwa Ibom-39, Niger-37, Edo-33, Katsina-23, Rivers-18,
Taraba-15, Nasarawa-14, Ogun-11, Delta-9, Ekiti-2 and Jigawa-2.
