Ronaldo turns 36 today and it doesn't look like there's any
signs of him slowing down just yet, and with a World Cup less than two years
away you can bet he'll go on till at least then and likely beyond.
The Portuguese superstar has won a whole host of honours for
both club and country, including seven league titles, five Champions Leagues
and the Euros, but it's his personal records list that is really impressive.
Recently Ronaldo scored the 760th goal of his career and
overtook Josef Bican as the all time top goalscorer in the history of football.
It has been disputed but officially it is the Juve forward's record.
The only person likely to overtake him anytime soon is
unsurprisingly Lionel Messi, though the Barca forward is 49 goals behind his
rival.
Whilst some people have questioned Ronaldo's all time top
scorer record his records in the Champions League and for Real Madrid can't be
disputed.
The former Galactico has scored more goals in Europe's top
competition than anyone else, bagging 134 goals in 174 appearances, Messi is
once again his closest competition.
The 60 goals he's scored in the knockout stages of the
Champions League is another record for the competition.
A litany of other records in UEFA's top club competition
also follow, including most goals in a season, six consecutive top scorer
awards and most hat-tricks in a single season.
He is also the only player to score in three finals, with
the former Manchester United winger winning all three of those finals, one with
the Premier League side and two with Los Blancos.
His record at the Bernabeu is his record potentially least
likely to be beaten, especially when you consider the ratio of goals to games.
Ronaldo is the club's all time top goal scorer, scoring an
incredible 450 goals in just 438 appearances. To put it in context, club legend
Raul is second on the list with 323 goals in 741 appearances.
Ferenc Puskas' 242 goals in 262 appearances for the club is
the closest ration to Ronaldo's 1.03 goals per game ratio, but the Hungarian's
0.92 goals per game is still some way short.
His 102 goals for Portugal is the most by any European in
international football and he's only eight goals off being the all time top
scorer for international goals, although that one will no doubt be disputed in
the same way his 760 goals record is disputed.
Those 102 strikes include goals at four Euros, more than
anyone else, including being the only player to score three or more at more
than one tournament.
Since moving to Italy, Ronaldo has become the first player
to score 50+ goals in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, with his 50
goals in Italy's top tier coming in just 61 games, the quickest in league
history.
Despite everything Ronaldo has won, he's ninth on the all
time trophy list for players, and all the records he has, there's no doubting
how hungry he still is.
The 36-year-old was clearly annoyed on Tuesday night after
being subbed off during Juve's Coppa Italia win over rivals Inter in the
semi-final first leg. After scoring twice Ronaldo was hoping to complete a
hat-trick but was taken off with 15 minutes to go.
Personal and team triumph has clearly spurred him on
throughout his career and it's unlikely he's going to stop winning silverware
and breaking records anytime soon.
The international goals record is certainly the next one in
his sights and maybe a sixth Ballon d'Or in the future, to get level with
Messi.
