Nigeria has registered 48 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the lowest daily count this year, taking the tally of infected people in the country to 162,641, according to Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC.

The death toll from the deadly infection moved to 2,049 after the virus claims 1 more patient live in 24 hours.

However, a total of 150,466  patients have recovered in the country so far after falling ill. According to the report 158 more patients recovered from the disease on Monday.

"Our discharges today include 28 community recoveries in Ekiti State managed in line with guidelines." NCDC added.

The fresh cases were reported across 8 states

Lagos recorded the highest number of new cases with 13, while Kaduna Nasarawa , and Kano confirmed 7, 7 and 6 respectively.

Kwara state also recorded 5 cases, Ondo with 4, Akwa Ibom and Osun reported 3 cases each.

According to NCDC, 1,767,694 samples have been tested till date, with 40,227 samples tested in one week.

Active cases in Nigeria now stand at 10,126.

The five most affected states by total cases are Lagos-57,594, FCT-19,617, Plateau-9,024, Kaduna-8,921 and Rivers-6,909.
