The new data released by the NCDC raised the total
fatalities due to the virus to 1,939. And the total confirmed cases in the country
rose to 156,963.
Total active coronavirus cases in Nigeria stand at 19,212 after
a decrease of 401 in last 24 hours.
Nigeria has recorded a total of 135,831 recoveries and discharges
since beginning of the pandemic with 1,280 new discharges in last 24 hours.
Its added that the discharges include 229 community recoveries in Lagos State, 144 in Imo State and 45 in Akwa Ibom State.
Also noted that, 3 previously confirmed cases in Nasarawa State omitted from the cumulative report
According to the breakdown released by the health agency via its official website,
the new cases were reported across 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The most populous city in Nigeria and the second largest
city in Africa, Lagos remains the most affected in the county, recording 131 of
the 464 new cases.
Followed by Kaduna with 69 cases, Akwa-Ibom in the third
place with 33 infections, Imo had 31 cases and Kastina reported 30 cases.
While Kano confirmed 26 cases, Ondo had 23, Yobe had 20, FCT
had 18, Ogun had 13, Rivers had 12 and Kebbi reported 11 cases.
Nine of the recorded virus were found in Ekiti, Six cases each
in Osun and Oyo, Borno, Gombe and Plateau confirmed five cases each, Edo reported four cases, Abia and Delta had three
cases each and Zamfara reported one case.
