The template published Thursday night shows that the retail
price of petrol would sell between market band of N209.61 and N212.61.
Marketers usually sell at the upper band.
With ex-depot price standing at N206.42 per liter, the March
template showed that the landing cost for petrol per liter is N189.61.
Although, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
had said the price would remained static in March to allow smooth dialogue
between government and labour unions, PPPRA’s latest template follows the
increasing price of crude at the international market as well as instability in
the exchange rate.
However, the new pricing template came as shocking news to
Nigerians because the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) recently
ruled out an increase in the ex-depot price of petrol in March saying it had
enough stock to last for 40 days.
Kennie Obateru, the NNPC spokesman, had said the decision
was taken “in order not to jeopardise ongoing engagements with organised labour
and other stakeholders on an acceptable framework that will not expose the
ordinary Nigerian to any hardship”.
In February, the NNPC had also allayed fears over the
possible increase in the price of petrol, amid concerns about the rising price
of crude oil on the global market.
Nigerians have now taken to social media to express their
dissatisfaction with the new petrol pricing template published by PPRA.

Food prices before now have been out of reach for many Nigerians then you add #FuelPriceHike on top of it which will further drive up prices of things across board.

Yet, the average Nigerian's earning has not increased.
How exactly do we want to bring people out of poverty?
This was #OccupyNigeria 2012, @MBuhari led a protest against hike in fuel price when it was just 65 Naira. Today @MBuhari is increasing fuel price to 212 Naira

Waking up to #FuelPriceHike @ N212 is a very bad news. I urge the Buhari led administration to reverse this. We are suffering enough already !

All they're good @ is useless propaganda.
Not surprised anymore about how this administration keeps inflicting pain on masses.
But I'm worried on the extent of damages that would have been done to Nigerains b4 2023! #FuelPriceHike pic.twitter.com/jop0RIMG9u

In 1978, fuel price per liter was 0.5 kobo. Today, #FuelPriceHike is a major problem to the Nigeria’s economy especially for an average Nigerian under the leadership of Buhari. pic.twitter.com/PVgDp61fR6

We woke up this morning only to see fuel price at N212 per litre. Before 2023, you may wake up to see the Chinese people coming to occupy your properties as a collateral. 😂4+4#FuelPriceHike pic.twitter.com/0Rl8VUyyvf
