    COVID-19: Nigeria Records 51 New Cases

    Nigeria added 51 cases to the number of COVID-19 infections recorded in the nation as no patient lost their lives to coronavirus on Saturday.

    Saturday became the twelfth consecutive day that the nation recorded no fatality from the virus that has caused over 3 million deaths globally and over 2,000 deaths in Nigeria since the pandemic began.

    Meanwhile, 44 COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the disease have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

    The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country slightly up by 7,  now stand at 7,936.

    According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, till date, a total of 164,684 cases have been confirmed, 154,687 cases have been discharged and 2,061 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Breakdown of the data released by the health agency on Twitter shows that the new cases were reported in 5 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Yobe took the lead with 19 cases, while Lagos, Rivers, FCT and Akwa-Ibom reported 17, 8, 4 and 2 cases respectively. Bayelsa had 1 case of the virus.
