The 42 new infections represent an increase from the 40
cases logged on Sunday and the 35 reported Saturday.
The new cases include 14 in Lagos, 11 in Gombe, 5 cases each
in Ebonyi and Kano. While FCT reported 4 cases, Edo, Kaduna and Rivers confirmed
1 case each.
However, the health authorities noted that today's report
includes 0 cases from Plateau, Nasarawa and Sokoto States.
No new deaths were announced on May 24, making the death toll stands at 2,067.
There are now 166,061 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria,
including deaths and recoveries.
Hospitalizations continue to slowly decline in Nigeria, with 16 more people recovered from the disease and discharged after testing negative. The total number of recoveries in the nation rose to 156,492.
