The daily COVID-19 infection rate in Nigeria is back  above 50 after ten days.

Nigeria reported 63 new COVID-19 cases and zero coronavirus related deaths in the last 24 hours.

The country’s active caseload stands at 7,637, up by 52 from the previous day. 

With the new cases, 166,254 total infections and 2,071 deaths has been recorded so far, according to the latest update by Nigeria Centre for Disease Centre NCDC Friday.

The health authorities also announced the discharged of 11 new patients after fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19, pushing the country total recoveries to 156,546.

According to the data released by the NCDC via its verified Twitter handle, the new COVID-19 cases were reported across 7 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

A detailed breakdown of the newly recorded infections by state as follows:  Lagos and Ondo recorded the highest number of infections with 25 and 22 cases respectively.

Also, Rivers had 6 cases of the virus, Akwa Ibom and Kaduna reported 3 cases each, Kwara had 2, Ebonyi and FCT recorded 1 case each.

Today's report includes 0 cases from Plateau, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Kano, Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti States, NCDC noted.
