    COVID-19: Another 39 Nigerian Residents Tests Positive in 5 States, FCT

    As Nigeria continues to fight the second wave of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the health officials in the country stated that another 39 Nigerian residents tested positive for COVID-19.

    As many as 116 patients were discharged during the day after recovered from COVID-19. And no coronavirus-related death were recorded from the virus on Tuesday.

    The newly recorded infections raised the country’s tally of confirmed COVID-19  cases to 167,331, the number of successfully recovered patients to 163,913 and the death toll from the virus reached 2,118.

    Active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria has dropped by 77. Now stand at 1,300.

    The Nigeria Centre  for Disease Control disclosed this via its verified Facebook page.

    Data obtained from NCDC shows that the new cases were reported in 5 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Lagos had the highest number of new cases with 17 new infections on Tuesday, followed by Borno with 7 and Ondo with 6. While Rivers, FCT and Kaduna reported 5, 3 and 1 cases respectively.

    Today’s report includes a backlog of cases from Borno State from 5th April to 17th June, 2021.

    Also Ekiti, Imo, Kano, Oyo, Plateau and Sokoto are the six states that reported no infections, NCDC added.
