Nigeria logged 86 new COVID-19 cases in 3 states over the past 24 hours, a sharp increase from zero case reported the previous day.

With the announcement, the tally of COVID-19 infections in Nigeria has reached 167,292, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC during its daily COVID-19 update via it official website.

The health officials also reported that 240 COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the country, raising the number of recoveries and discharges to 163,797.

The country registered 1 COVID-19-related death, after sixteenth  consecutive days that Nigeria records no death. A total of 2,118 patients have lost their lives to the disease since the beginning of the pandemic.

The breakdown of the new cases shows that, Lagos, Ondo and Adamawa reported 52, 31 and 3 respectively.

According to NCDC, today’s report includes data from Lagos State for the 19th & 20th of June, 2021.

While 9 states, which includes FCT, Rivers, Imo, Enugu, Sokoto, Oyo, Ekiti, Nasarawa and Plateau reported zero case.

Also noted that 139 community discharges from Ondo and 100 from Enugu State managed in line with guidelines.

Cumulatively, a total of 2,266,591 samples have been tested in the Nigeria so far, out of which 86,147 were tested in the past two week.

Active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria has dropped by 155. Now stand at 1,377.
