    COVID-19: Nigeria Records 28 Deaths, 203 New Cases

    The country’s count of new COVID-19 daily cases is back above 200, with 203 new confirmed cases reported Monday.

    Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) said via its official Twitter handle, with 28 additional COVID-19 related deaths in 5 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    Meanwhile, 2,223 COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the disease have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

    According to the health agency, till date, a total of 166,518 cases have been confirmed, 158,781 cases have been discharged and 2,099 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    As the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the country remained below 10,000, the health agency stated that, Benue state lead the chart, recorded the highest number of the novel coronavirus infections - with 178 new cases, followed by Lagos with 10 and Ondo with 6 infections.

    Active cases in Nigeria now stand at 5,638 — down from the previous day when it was at 7,686.

    FCT and Kaduna also reported 4 cases each and Plateau confirmed 1 case.

    NCDC noted that today's report includes backlog of data from Benue and Nasarawa States recorded from February to May 2021.
    And 0 cases recorded from Ekiti, Enugu, Kano, Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Rivers, and Sokoto States.

    With 39,818 tests processed across the nation in one week. Nigeria has now conducted a total of 2,133,061 tests since the first case relating to the disease was announced last year.
