Nigeria reported no COVID-19 related fatality on Tuesday
taking the deaths toll to 2,099.
While the number of cases dropped sharply with 17 persons
testing positive to the infection, pushing the caseload to 166,534, the Nigeria
Centre for Disease Control NCDC said in an update via its official Twitter
handle.
In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,154 COVID-19 patients in
the country have recovered from the disease, and have been discharged, taking
the total number of recoveries to 159,935.
Active cases in Nigeria now stand at 4,501 — down from the
previous day when it was at 5,638
According to the breakdown of the new cases which was recorded
in 5 states, Lagos, the financial capital of the county reported 8 more new
cases, River with 5, Kano with 2, Kaduna and Plateau recorded 1 case each.
Today’s report includes a backlog of recoveries from Ondo State from 31st January, 2021 to date.
Zero cases reported from FCT, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Abia, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Ekiti States, NCDC added.
