    COVID-19: 1 Death, 74 New Cases Recorded on Thursday

    The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria reached 167,692 when the country's disease control agency reported additional 74 new cases late Thursday, as well as 1 death from the disease in 9 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The country has registered 167,692  cases of the virus since the pandemic began, while the official death toll has risen to 2,121, the Nigeria Centre for  Disease Control said while giving the daily report on its official Facebook page.

    The total cumulative recoveries stand at 164,273 today with 29 patients recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours.

    As of Thurdday active cases in country rose to 1,298  from 1,254 it was the previous day.

    According to the breakdown released by the health officials, Lagos, the epicentre of the disease in the country, led with 49 new infections, followed by Ondo with 12 and Oyo and Rivers with 3 cases each.

    Other states affected by the virus on Thursday are Kaduna-2, Ekiti-1, FCT-1, Gombe-1, Jigawa-1, Ogun-1

    Today’s report includes data from Jigawa State including 1 case for 30th June, 2021. Only 1 state, Sokoto reported no case.
