Five more deaths from COVID-19 were reported Thursday, raising
the nation's total fatalities to 2,200.
Meanwhile, 347 COVID-19 patients was confirmed to have
recovered from the disease and discharged from hospitals across the country.
Active cases further increased to 11,891, an additional 391 from
the nation's last update.
There are now a total of 180,661 COVID-19 cases in Nigeria where 166,560 people have recovered from the coronavirus disease and discharged, since February 27 when the country reported its first COVID-19 case.
Of the new cases, Lagos recorded the highest number of the
novel coronavirus infections – with 364 on Thursday, almost half of total cases
of the day.
Followed by Akwa Ibom with 141, Oyo with 74, Rivers with 46 and
Abia with 38 infections.
Ogun reported 24 cases, Kwara had 20, FCT had 12, Ekiti had 10,
Delta had 9, Edo had 6, Plateau had 5, Imo had 3 and Bayelsa reported 1 case.
Kaduna, Sokoto, Kano, Nasarawa, Ondo, Osun and Sokoto among the six states with zero cases reported.
Today’s report includes confirmed and discharged from Akwa
Ibom recorded on 11th August 53 and 160
and 12th August, 2021 88 and 63 cases, according to the report released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.
NCDC also noted that discharged cases reported for Kaduna 11th August, (18) and 12th August, 2021 (2)
