The new cases of COVID-19 continued to mount up, as did
deaths and Nigeria’s positivity rate.
Nigeria's tally of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reached
186,635 with 1,064 new infections recorded in 24 hours period, according to the
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC during its daily COVID-19 update.
Nigeria’s active caseload currently stand at 16,055 up from 15,200
it was the previous day.
Health officials in the country also confirmed that 13 more
people have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
However, 196 people have recovered and discharged after falling ill.
Nigeria's tally of recoveries has now gone up to 168,320 and
the deaths toll recorded from the disease so far stands at 2,260.
Data released by the health officials shows that the new
cases were reported across 9 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Lagos, Rivers, Ekiti and Kwara reported the highest number
of cases with 776, 143, 49 and 33 infections respectively.
Ogun reported 21 cases of the virus, 18 cases in Benue, 13 in Oyo, 5 in FCT, 4 in Osun and 2 in Yobe.
NCDC stated that today's report includes confirmed cases from Lagos State on 20th and 21st August 2021. And backlog of confirmed cases for Benue State from 27th - 31st July 2021
Also noted that zero cases were reported in Abia, Imo, Kano, Nasarawa, Ondo, Plateau and Sokoto States.
