The 835 new infections in 19 states and the Federal
Capital Territory are higher than the 637 cases reported a day earlier.
The total number of people who have contracted the virus in
Nigeria has now risen to 189,715 out of
which 169,626 people have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals since
the pandemic broke out in Nigeria in February last year.
With 10 deaths linked to the virus on Thursday, the deaths
toll from the disease in the country rose to 2,298.
Nigeria now have 17,791 active cases across the country an
increase of 581 from the previous update.
According to the breakdown by NCDC, Rivers led with 263 new cases, followed closely by Lagos with 217 cases to extend its lead as the most impacted by COVID-19 in the country and Oyo in third position on Thursday with 128 cases of the virus.
While Edo, Kwara, FCT and Ekiti reported 45, 42, 37 and 35 cases
respectively.
Ogun reported 13 cases of the virus, Akwa Ibom and Imo had 11
cases each, Bayelsa had 10, Plateau had 7, Delta had 4 and Kaduna had 3.
Benue, Niger and Sokoto reported 2 cases each, also Abia, Ebonyi
and Nasarawa recorded 1 cases each.
NCDC noted that Borno and Kano are the only two states that reported zero cases on Thursday.
