    Nigeria Reports 14 Deaths, 626 New COVID-19 Cases

    The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC disclosed on its website that Nigeria has reported 626 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday in 9 states and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

    Three hundred and thirty-four of Tuesday's cases are in Lagos state, the highest number of confirmed cases for the day.

    River, Oyo, FCT, and Osun accounted for 134, 60, 41 and 20 cases respectively.

    Fourteen cases are in Plateau, nine in Ogun, seven in Ekiti, six in Kwara and Benue reported one case.

    Today’s report includes three states with zero cases reported: Kano, Nasarawa, and Sokoto, NCDC added

    The health officials also confirmed that 267 patients were discharged on Tuesday after recovering from the infection.

    Active cases further increased by 595 on Tuesday. Total active cases in Nigeria now stand at 11,203

    However, 14 death from COVID-19 complications was reported in the last 24 hours.

    According to the NCDC's online COVID-19 dashboard, there have been 192,431 cumulative COVID-19 cases in Nigeria. Of those, 178,759 people have recovered, and 2,469 have died due to COVID-19.

    It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
