    COVID-19: 17 Deaths, 579 New Cases Reported in Nigeria

    Public health officials reported 579 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday in 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC disclosed this via its official Facebook page.

    Data from the health officials further showed that the newly recorded infections raised the country’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 196,487.

    The health officials also stated that with the new addition, the Nigeria’s COVID-19 recovery had increased by 277 on Tuesday, as  the country’s number of recoveries stood at 185,159.

    The total of known active cases of COVID-19 grew by 303 since Monday’s data update. There are now 8,755 known active cases in Nigeria.

    Meanwhile, 17 more people have died from COVID-19, taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Nigeria to 2,573

    Of the new cases, Lagos reported 204, Rivers had 89, Edo had 65, FCT had 50, Oyo had 47 and Enugu reported 46 cases.

    Twenty-Four cases of the virus were reported in Ekiti state, seventeen in Cross River, Delta and Gombe reported fifteen cases.

    Twelve cases in Osun, six in Plateau, five in Benue and Kano reported two cases.

    Today's report includes 0 cases from Abia, Nasarawa, Ondo and Sokoto States NCDC stated.
