    Nigeria Logs 336 New COVID-19 Cases, 5 Deaths

    The current surge in COVID-19 infections seems to be showing signs of a sustained downward trend.

    Today the health institute reported that 336 new COVID-19 cases have been identified in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This raises the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in Nigeria to 201,630.

    With five people succumbing to the infection in a span of 24 hours, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC data showed that the deaths toll in the country rose to 2,654.

    After 680 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, the health institute also revealed that the number of people who have recuperated from COVID-19 so far reached 190,288.

    With a rise of 351 active cases, the country's active case load rose to 8,688, the health institute data showed.

    Of the new cases, 86 were reported in Lagos, 48 in Benue, 46 in Rivers and 41 in Bauchi.

    Other states are Edo-25, FCT-19, Akwa Ibom-13, Ondo-12, Anambra-11, Ekiti-8, Kwara-7, Plateau-7, Bayelsa-4, Kaduna-4, Delta-2, Ogun-2 and Kano-1.

    The health institute data further shows that Saturday’s report includes four states with zero cases reported: Imo, Osun, Oyo, and Sokoto

    And a backlog of 48 Cases from Benue State, 29 cases on 7th, 7 cases on 17th and 4 cases on 18th of September 2021.
