The country’s health
officials logged 296 new COVID-19 cases on Monday in 14 states and the Federal Capital
Territory, marking a slight increase from the 255 cases reported on Sunday.
Another 323 people
recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, resulting in 9,111 active cases
across the country.
Twelve more deaths of
people with the illness were also recorded in last 24 hours, health officials report
shows.
In today’s report, Rivers
recorded 63, the highest number of infections for the day, followed by Lagos, FCT,
Osun and Edo with 49, 47, 37 and 29 respectively.
Plateau reported eighteen
cases, Gombe had fourteen cases, Nasarawa with twelve and Delta with ten.
Benue and Kano reported
five cases each, Bayelsa had three, Oyo reported 2, Bauchi and Ekiti reported one
case each.
NCDC stated that
today's report includes 10 cases reported for Delta state, 2 cases on 27th and 8
cases on September 26th. The state reported 7 deaths – 1 each on 18th, 29th and
30th. On September 6th, 10th and 13th Delta
also reported 1 death each.
While Edo reported 29
cases, 12 on 27th and 17 cases on 26th of
September. The state reported 3 deaths- 2
on 27th and 1 on 26th of September.
With today's addition, the total COVID-19 tally in Nigeria has reached 204,752, while the death toll stands at 2,689 and 192,943 COVID-19 patients were reported to have recovered after receiving treatment and discharged since the beginning of the outbreak, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.
