    COVID-19: NCDC Announces 290 New Cases, 2 Deaths

    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday announced additional 290 new COVID-19 cases in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The health officials said that two new patients have been confirmed dead due to the virus, while 145 people were discharged from various hospitals across the country. 

    With the latest update, the tally of infected people in the country rose to 207,210, while the number of recoveries and discharged reached 194,796 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    There have now been 2,742  confirmed deaths in the country since the first death were reported in March 23rd 2020 in Abuja.

    Total active cases in Nigeria  now stands at 9,629 up from 9,471 it was the previous day.

    Data obtained from NCDC’s official website shows that, within a 24 hour period, FCT saw additional 127 new coronavirus cases, while Lagos, Kaduna and Delta reported 45, 28 and 18 cases respectively.

    Other states with new virus infections on Thursday as follows Kwara-17, Plateau-13, Zamfara-10, Rivers-8, Imo-21, Ekiti-5, Nasarawa-4, Edo-3, Ondo-3, Akwa Ibom-2 and Oyo-1.
