    Nigeria Reports 167 New COVID-19 Cases, 2 Deaths

    As of today in Nigeria, the figures released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC shows a total of 209,713 COVID-19 cases recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, including 167 new cases registered on Wednesday, which marks an increase compared to 159 cases reported the previous day.

    Wednesday is the fourth straight day the country’s daily cases stay below the 200 level.

    Daily recoveries continued to outpace daily infections at 178 on Wednesday. These brought the country’s total recoveries so far to 197,724.

    In the last 24 hours there were 2 deaths due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths in the country now stands at 2,840.

    Active cases dropped by 13 in the past 24 hours. A total of 9,149 registered were so far.

    NCDC disclosed that the new cases were recorded in 9 states.

    The breakdown of the data by the health officials revealed that the Taraba recorded the highest figure of 109, which includes cases reported on October 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 20th with 22, 2, 5, 5, 14, 27, 14 and 20 cases respectively.

    Lagos reported 17 cases, Plateau had 16 and Bauchi had 11

    Six cases were recorded in Rivers, three in Delta, two cases each in Akwa Ibom and Imo, one case in Bayelsa.

    NCDC added that Sokoto recorded no case on Wednesday.
