Nigeria reported 269 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday along with one additional death, as the nation’s hospital burden continued a slow decline.
The new infections
mark a slight decrease from the 290 cases reported on Thursday.
Health officials also said
that 256 people were discharged on Friday after recovering from the infection.
Total active cases in
Nigeria now stands at 9,686 up from 9,629
it was the previous day.
There have been 2,743
deaths due to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, along with 195,052
recoveries.
With the new figure, a total of 207,479 coronavirus cases have now been confirmed across the nation.
The latest positive
samples of COVID-19 were recorded in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT), according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.
Abuja, the nation’s Federal
Capital Territory, and the second hardest-hit by the pandemic, topped the
COVID-19 infection chart with 89 new cases.
Followed Lagos, the hardest-hit
state by the pandemic recorded 54 new cases and Benue reported 24 cases.
Also, seventeen cases of
the virus were found in Delta, fifteen in Kano, fourteen in Rivers, thirteen in
Gombe and eleven in Kwara.
Bauchi had nine cases,
Plateau had eight, Niger had seven, Imo had three, Edo had two cases, Ekiti, Jigawa
and Nasarawa reported one case each.
While Ondo, Osun, Oyo
and Sokoto reported zero COVID-19 cases.
NCDC stated that today’s
report includes 60 discharged cases reported from Bayelsa State for October 5th
(40) & 8th (20) 2021.
Fifteen confirmed
cases reported from Kano State for October 7th (8) & 8th
(7) 2021.
Twenty-four confirmed
cases reported from Benue state for October 7th (11) & 8th
(13) 2021.
Nine confirmed cases reported for Bauchi state for October 7th (5) & 8th (4) 2021.
