Nigeria’s daily count of coronavirus infections have declined for the second consecutive days on Sunday — with 74 new cases recorded, as well as one additional deaths linked to the disease in 7 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Sunday’s report comes after Nigeria recorded 89 new infections on Saturday, 120 on Friday, and 182 on Thursday.

The new cases have pushed the cumulative number of infections to 211,961.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) revealed that the new cases involve 49 persons in Benue state alone.

However, the health officials stated that the 49 confirmed cases reported from Benue state is a backlog from APIN Laboratory on 29th October 2021.

Other states reporting COVID-19 case counts include Enugu-6, Osun-6, Kano-5, Oyo-4, FCT-2, Bayelsa-1 and Ogun-1

The health officials in its latest COVID-19 bulletin said an additional 41 patients have beaten the coronavirus disease and have been discharged in last 24 hours, as active cases in Nigeria now stands at 5,817.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Nigeria has seen 211,961 lab-confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. That number includes 203,248 resolved cases and 2,896 deaths linked to the virus.

NCDC added that today’s report includes 26 discharged cases reported from Abia state on October 30th 2021.

One discharged case reported from Lagos state is for October 30th 2021 and one death reported from the state on October 30th 2021.

Six confirmed cases reported from Enugu state on October 29th 2021, NCDC said.

While Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Ondo, Taraba and Sokoto are the only seven states with zero cases reported on Sunday.
