As the spread of novel coronavirus disease COVID-19 in Nigeria continued downward trajectory, the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC  revealed that the country has registered 57 new COVID-19 cases and 32 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

With this updates, the health officials revealed that the total infections from the pandemic currently stands at 213,589, while a total of 206,518 Nigerians have recovered from the disease and discharged nationwide.

In the same 24-hour span, the health officials stated that one additional death from virus were recorded on Sunday, the deaths toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria now stands at 2,974.

The number of active COVID-19 cases slightly up, with 4,097 cases reported on Sunday, an addition of 4 cases from 4,073 the previous day .

According to NCDC, the new infections were recorded in 10 states.

Lagos, the most affected by in virus since the start of the pandemic reported 30 of the new cases on Sunday, Enugu had 9 cases and Rivers with 7 cases.

While Kaduna and Osun reported three cases, Abia, Bauchi, Kano, Ogun and Plateau reported one case each.

Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, and Sokoto reported no cases of the virus on Sunday, NCDC said.
