Wednesday’s report comes after the nation logged
599 cases on Tuesday, 859 cases on Monday and then record 1,547 cases on Sunday.
In an update on its official website late Wednesday night, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC said the new cases were
recorded across nine states and the Federal Capital Territory. It added that
Lagos state reported 96.5 percent of the new infections with 1,036 cases.
The commercial city of over 20 million people
has maintained the status of the COVID-19 epicentre since the disease outbreak
in Feb 27, 2020, as the data on the NCDC website shows that the state has so
far recorded a total of 93,754 cases and 763 deaths and 80,063 recoveries.
Other states that reported new case of the
disease today include Nasarawa-92, Delta-58, FCT-57, Edo-44, Rivers-25, Kano-23,
Enugu-11, Plateau-6, and Bayelsa-3.
One more deaths related to COVID-19 were
reported in the last 24 hours, moving Nigeria’s COVID-19 death toll to 3028.
Nigeria has treated and discharged 213,491 of
those infected with the virus. 311 of them were discharged from hospitals in
past 24 hours.
Right now, there are 23,866 people down with
COVID-19 -- up by 1,063 patients from 22,803 it was the previous day.
The nation has seen 240,374 lab-confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, including deaths and recoveries.
