    Nigeria Reports 1,051 New COVID-19 Cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC provided new updates Thursday on COVID-19 statistics via its official website as the holidays approach.

    NCDC reported 1,051 new daily COVID-19 cases Thursday in 10 states and Federal Capital Territory, down from 1,424 cases reported the day before.

    Lagos, FCT and Oyo accounted for most of the new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, at 559, 238 and 79 additional cases respectively.

    Others includes Oyo-51, Ondo-32, Plateau-20, Akwa Ibom-11, Ogun-7, Bayelsa-5, Kano-5, and Kwara-4.

    NCDC noted that zero cases were reported from Bauchi, Ekiti, Osun and Sokoto States.

    According to the new statistics, 53 patients were declared recovered overnight, leaving 6,743 active cases.

    The health officials reported no new death linked to the virus, which makes the fatality toll for the nation remained 2,983.

    NCDC added that the total COVID-19 infections in Nigeria reached 221,071 on Thursday, while 211,345 patients have fought off the highly contagious disease since the start of the pandemic.
