It's a worrying sign
for the Nigeria ahead of the holiday travel season, coronavirus infections are
rising again.
The rise is a
turnaround after cases had steadily declined from late October to late November.
The country reported more than 200 cases on Wednesday, the last time was on November
3rd when 209 were recorded.
It stated that the 268
new cases were from 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The additional cases
indicate an increase from the 107 cases reported in the country the previous
day.
The new update
revealed that Nigeria’s total infection from the coronavirus outbreak currently
stands at 215,164. And the death toll from the disease still at 2,980.
NCDC also noted that a
total of 207,520 Nigeria residents have been discharged nationwide, including 25
recoveries reported on Wednesday. Which 5 discharged cases reported in Bayelsa
state on 7th December 2021. And 2 discharged cases reported in Lagos state on
7th December 2021.
Active cases have risen
to 4,664 -up by 243 from 4,421 it was the previous day.
The breakdown of the
NCDC data shows that Lagos topped the list with 225, Rivers with 17 cases and Enugu
with 10 cases.
Edo reported 5 cases, Bauchi
and Ogun had 3 cases each, Oyo had 2 cases, Kaduna, Bayelsa and Delta reported
1 case each.
According to NCDC, today’s
report includes 225 confirmed cases reported in Lagos state on 7th December
2021.
Three confirmed cases
reported in Bauchi state on 7th December 2021.
One confirmed case
reported in Bayelsa state on 7th December 2021. And one confirmed case reported in Delta state on 7th
December 2021.
While 3 states, Ondo,
Osun, Sokoto reported zero case of the virus on Wednesday.
