The public health officials reported 791 new
cases of COVID-19 in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The day’s tally marked a slight decrease over
the 856 cases reported the day before.
Virus caseload in Nigeria reached 246,195 as
of Thursday. according to NCDC tallies.
It added that the number of people who have
recuperated from the disease rose to 217,509 after 262 patients recovered and
were discharged from hospitals across the nation.
The recoveries includes 108 discharged cases
reported in FCT includes 102 community discharges.
The active cases have risen to 25,635 from 25,099,
an increase of 536 cases over 24 hours period.
Breakdown by NCDC shows that Lagos reported
the highest number of COVID-19 infections with 523, followed by FCT, Oyo and Ondo
with 84, 48 and 35 cases respectively.
Kano reported 22 cases, Borno had 16 cases, Delta
and Edo reported 15 cases each.
Ogun on Thursday reported nine cases, Jigawa had
seven cases, Bauchi had six cases, Plateau had five cases, Rivers had four and Bayelsa
reported two cases.
Ekiti and Osun State reported zero cases of
the disease on Thursday.
The health officials stated that today’s
report includes 523 confirmed cases reported in Lagos state on 5th (249) &
6th (274) January 2022.
Sixteen confirmed cases reported in Borno
state is for 5th (4) & 6th (14) January 2022.
