    Nigeria Records Five Deaths, 856 Infections Wednesday

    Nigeria health officials  on Wednesday, announced additional 856 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory, resulting in 25,099 known active cases across the country.

    Wednesday’s case count comes after officials reported 428 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

    The latest update released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that the new confirmed cases raised Nigeria’s infection toll to 245,404.

    Health officials added that there are 337 of the new cases in Lagos, 152 cases in Kaduna and 87 cases in FCT.

    Aside that, Gombe States also reported 47 cases, followed by Delta with 43 cases and Kano with 31 cases.

    Twenty-seven of the cases were recorded in Kwara, twenty-six in Enugu, nineteen in Nasarawa and fifteen in Niger state.

    While Oyo and River reported eleven cases each, Benue had nine cases, Bauchi and Ogun had eight cases each and Borno reported seven cases.

    Six case were found in Ekiti state, five in Edo, four in Plateau, and three in Bayelsa.

    NCDC noted that today’s report includes 337 confirmed cases reported in Lagos state on 4th January 2022.

    The 152 confirmed cases reported in Kaduna state is for 4th (18) & 5th (11) January 2022 with additional 123 cases for 24th (67) & 25th (56) December 2021.

    Also stated that the 26 confirmed cases reported in Enugu state is for 4th January 2022.

    Thirty-one confirmed cases reported in Kano state is for 4th (20) & 5th (11) January 2022.

    Fifteen confirmed cases reported in Niger state is for 2nd January 2022.

    Nine confirmed cases reported in Benue state is for 4th January 2022.

     And seven confirmed cases reported in Borno state is for 4th January 2022.

    No new cases reported from Ondo, Osun and Sokoto State on Wednesday.

    The NCDC disclosed on its official website that five more Nigeria residents have lost their lives to coronavirus. Meanwhile, another 433 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

    The recoveries includes 80 discharged cases reported in Kaduna state on 4th (30) & 5th (50) January 2022.

    Twenty-seven discharged cases reported on Enugu state on 4th January 2022.

    Eight discharged cases reported in Kano state on 4th January 2022.

    And three discharged cases reported in Lagos state on 4th January 2022, NCDC said.

    There have been 217,247 COVID-19  recoveries cases and 3,058 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.
