    Nigeria Reports 8 Deaths, 428 New COVID-19 Cases

    Nigeria health officials has registered 428 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, a decline from the previous cases recorded.

    Tuesday’s case count comes after officials reported 670 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.

    In an update on its official Facebook page, NCDC said the new cases were recorded across 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    The breakdown of the data revealed that Rivers, Ondo and FCT recorded 188, 54 and 42 cases respectively.

    Others includes Imo-25, Nasarawa-24, Oyo-23, Edo-18, Akwa Ibom-16, Ogun-14, Osun-10, Kano-7, Ekiti-3, Borno-2 and Plateau-2.

    NCDC noted that zero cases were reported from Bauchi and Sokoto State.

    It also stated that today’s report includes 25 confirmed cases reported in Imo state on 3rd January 2022.

    Sixteenth confirmed cases reported in Akwa Ibom state on 31st (9) December 2021 & 2nd (7) January 2022.

    Seven confirmed cases reported in Kano state on 3rd January 2022.

    And two confirmed cases reported in Borno state on 3rd January 2022.

    The country recorded 8 new deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total death tally in Nigeria to 3,053.

    Currently, 24,681 people are still down with COVID-19, active case dropped by 214, from 24,895 it was the previous day.

    The health officials also said that the country deemed 634 more cases of the disease to be resolved as of Tuesday. Nigeria’s number of recovered patients up to 216,814.

    It added 231 discharged cases reported in Imo state are for 3rd January 2022 are community discharges

    The new infections update raised the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Nigeria to 244,548, including deaths and recoveries, according to a report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.
