    Nigeria Reports One Death, 75 New COVID-19 Cases

    COVID-19 infections are decreasing in Nigeria, with 75 new infections reported on Wednesday.

    The daily case number is a significant decline from yesterday's 250 cases.

    According to the latest statistics of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, the new cases were reported across 8 states  and Federal Capital Territory.

    Of the new cases Lagos reported 33 cases, Gombe had 13 and FCT had 11 cases.

    While Osun accounted eight of the cases, Edo and Rivers reported three cases each, Plateau had two, Kaduna and Kano reported one case each.

    NCDC added that zero cases were reported in Abia, Ekiti, Nasarawa, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, and Sokoto on Wednesday.

    In addition to this, 646 more people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recoveries to 228,137.

    A decrease of 819 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 case count in a span of 48 hours.  The number of active coronavirus cases in the county  stands at 21,479 on Wednesday.

    Meanwhile, the country's death toll climbed to 3,134 after one more patient succumbed to the virus in past 24 hours.

    As of January 26, 2022 the country has recorded 252,753 cases of the novel coronavirus cases, while 228,137 people have recovered from the disease, and 3,134 COVID-19 fatalities have been confirmed.
