The number of people infected with the disease
on Tuesday significantly dropped from the 249 cases reported on Monday.
Nigeria's total COVID-19 cases now stands at 251,341, according to the data revealed by health officials in the country.
While the number of active COVID-19 cases dropped
from 23,439 on Monday to 23,286 today.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease
Control NCDC, there have been 3,116 COVID-19 deaths reported among residents
and patients across Nigeria since 2020, with an additional six deaths reported
on Tuesday.
These include a backlog of 4 deaths reported in
FCT on 18th (1), 26th (1), 30th (1) December 2021 & 12th (1) January 2022, NCDC
said.
Health officials also indicated there are a
total of 224,939 recoveries, which is
around 89.5 per cent of known cases. Resolved cases increased by 310 from the
previous day.
NCDC stated that today’s recoveries includes 199
discharged cases reported in FCT on 18th January 2022 including 198 community
discharges.
The 163 new infections were reported across 12
states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The breakdown of the NCDC data revealed that Lagos
accounted for 59 cases, while FCT, Delta, Kaduna, Gombe and Osun reported 33, 16,
13, 12 and 12 cases respectively.
Others as follows Ogun-4, Ekiti-3, Oyo-3, Rivers-3,
Borno-2, Imo-2 and Nasarawa-1.
NCDC added that three states, Bauchi, Plateau
and Sokoto reported zero cases.
NCDC also noted that 2 confirmed cases reported in Borno state are for 17th January 2022.
